Foundry616 is an exciting new venue offering the best in contemporary jazz and jazz-oriented music across other genres so listeners can consistently expect to hear the best from the stars of today and tomorrow.

Behind Foundry616 is Peter Rechniewski, former Artistic Director and co-founder of the Sydney Improvised Music Association (SIMA), a passionate jazz aficionado dedicated to keeping Australian jazz centre stage and jazz generally on the arts radar.

Peter's knowledge and direct hand in the jazz scene, in addition to being the long term AD of a key jazz organisation, includes writing on jazz (The Permanent Underground) broadcasting, establishing festivals, acting as a Board Member and consultant to Australian arts festivals and programming venues. Add to that his ability to bring many international greats to Australia over several decades (Dewey Redman, Steve Lacy, Roy Haynes, Mark Helias, Betty Carter and more) and it is easy to see why Foundry616 was inevitable.

With a plan to not only feature the cream of Australian jazz, but bring in special guests from overseas and work with key jazz organisations and festivals to feature exciting internationals, this is just the beginning of some seriously good jazz in the many seasons to come.
