City Recital Hall is tucked away in the city laneway of Angel Place Sydney, just steps away from Wynyard and Martin Place, in the heart of the CBD.

By day, Angel Place is a favourite amongst business lunch diners and tourists keen to experience the iconic ‘Forgotten Songs’ birdcage installation. At night, Angel Place is closed to traffic, with restaurants extending their trade onto the street, and the party getting started at the nearby Ivy district.

In 2024 City Recital Hall underwent a significant refurbishment, with new foyers, bars and amenities throughout, plus new dressing rooms, Green Room and Function Room. Celebrating 25 years, the acoustic jewel of the Sydney CBD is now available for private and corporate hire.

Exclusive Venue Hire

Best known for its auditorium, which hosts some of the best acoustics in Australia, City Recital Hall can seat up to 1238 guests when you include the option for Level 1 to be hired with 'seats out' mode. This flexible venue can host any event from live music and parties, to film screenings, AGMs, conferences and talks.

In 2024, every front of house area was fully refurbished, with further spaces becoming available to hire, which can be paired with auditorium hire or utilised independently:

- Auditorium (up to 1238 pax seated, with 609 on L1, 356 on L2, 273 on L3)

- Ground Floor foyer (up to 200 pax standing, up to 50 pax seated dining)

- Level One foyer & bar (up to 100 pax standing)

- Level Two foyer & bar (up to 80 pax standing)

- Level Three foyer & bar (up to 50 pax standing)

- Function Room/VIP Room (up to 80 pax standing, up to 65 pax conference seated, 30 pax seated dining)

Auditorium

Boasting 1238 seats across three levels, the City Recital Hall Auditorium is suited to an eclectic variety of music, talk, film, conference and party events.

For smaller functions, the stalls can be hired in isolation (609 pax seated) and the stalls seating can be taken out for events. The Auditorium also hosts a recording room with a sightline of the stage for hirers wishing to record the performance.

The Auditorium is ideal for screening films, including those accompanied by live music and lighting effects. Auditorium hirers may activate all foyer and bar spaces dependent on function size.

The Function Room can also be added to the hire for use as a VIP entertainment space, or to extend the Green Room.

Ground Floor Foyer

Fully renovated and boasting a bar, large bathrooms, a box office and cloak room, the Ground Floor Foyer is perfect for cocktail functions, parties, intimate dining and a stage can be set up for live performances and/or presentations.

CRH has relationships with neighbouring restaurants to offer hot food options, or hirers may bring their own caterer. Please note there are no kitchens on-site.

With an array of furniture available, City Recital Hall also has an existing relationship with two styling companies if desired (Simply Seated, DPlusD).

Entertain up to 200 standing, 100 theatre-style seating, or 50 seated for dinner. Digital screens in walkways.

Function Room/VIP Room

Newly renovated and ideal for cocktail events, talks or conferences, the Function Room is ready to impress.

Also able to be transformed into a VIP Room, this space offers corporate hospitality at any public event.

You'll have the opportunity to set up a bar within the room, or to utilise the level one bar just a few steps away.

The Function Room adjoins the Green Room, and can therefore be used as a green room extension and/or a crew room for elaborate auditorium events.

The newly refurbished front of house areas take advantage of the Hall's surrounds, with cosy nooks overlooking Angel Place and large, awe-inspiring bar spaces.

Across the day, create conference break-out spaces or host morning tea functions.

Across the evening, host cocktail parties, or build roped VIP areas for guests enjoying an auditorium performance.
