Swallow Bar in the heart of Maylands is a warm, intimate and nostalgic neighbourhood bar with more delicious food than you might expect. Established in 2011, by two chefs,  Swallow Bar has become a home away from home for many locals.  Arrive to a smile from the friendly bar staff, vintage jazz vinyl spinning and enticing aromas wafting from the open kitchen.

Pull up a stool at the recycled timber bar, or take a seat in one of the old Art Deco train booths or in the petite back courtyard. Work your way through the menu and you’ll find carefully selected local and international wines and beers, traditional and re-interpreted cocktails and thoughtfully composed, French-inspired plates of food. All made and served by people who are passionate about what they do and more than happy to chat to you about it.

Enjoy fabulous local & free live music three times a week, ranging from jazz, blues, country, bossa nova, rockabilly & honky tonk. Come on down and perch at the bar or book a table in the courtyard and listen to wonderful tunes carrying through the building.

The front bar opens up into a courtyard filled with sunshine in the summer months, or fully covered and cosy with heaters and blankets in the colder months. Off the Courtyard you’ll find the Captains Room which provides a beautiful private dining space with a crackling fire, velvet couches and Swallow curios...
