‘The Park’ welcomes you with open arms, an amazing taste in art and décor and drinks and food that will make you salivate just by reading what’s on the menu.
‘The Park’ is a bar and restaurant that has risen from the ashes in a time where LGBTQI+ venues have been fading away throughout East Sydney. Nick Armstrong (owner) is our knight in shining Armour who saw the closure of the beloved ‘The Green Park Hotel’ as a call to arms to create a venue that would fill this void – after all was a place very close to his heart after meeting his previous partner here. I mean it doesn’t get more wholesome than this!
Armstrong, excited to bring this vision to life, brought together a talented team of culinary and visual artists – And indeed this group of talented people made his vision erupt with vibrancy and class.
Chef Antoni Vourlos (previously of Ravesi and Bondi Beach) has curated a sustainable and native menu that uses products from NSW and around Australia; thus ensuring minimal impact on the environment and contributing to a circular economy. This includes Kangaroo and Parsnip Wellington with Fig, Davidson Plum and Balsamic reduction or the Grilled Kingfish with Zouk and Radish Salad. I mean how amazing does this sound!
‘The Park’s’ décor is curated by the stunning, creative hand of Kirsty Ludbrook (of Ludbrook Agency) and in collaboration with the talented artist Camille Olsen-Ormandy. Olsen-Ormandy’s striking, intriguing and vibrant portraits illuminate ‘The Park’s’ space cultivating a serene, modern and artistic mood. I mean I cannot stop looking at these portraits – THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
Okay, now, let’s visualise this together… imagine sitting around an old style, U-shaped night club booth, drinking $7 Baron’s Brewing beers and sharing long, lunch laughs with loved ones. Oh this is the time to be alive people! In addition to the beautiful food they conjure up in the kitchen, the bartenders can whip and shake and stir you up a fresh, fruity and fabulous cocktail that will make you say, “Oooooo” and “Aaaaaaa”. I mean I dream of the Splice of Heaven cocktail almost nightly.
Can I tempt you even more to go and check this restaurant out… Every Sunday from 11am to 1:30pm you can book into for brunch and enjoy 2 performances by their fabulous international Drag Queens, Maxi Shield and CoCo Jumbo. Here, before your very eyes you can witness their Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent.
Also… Bingo Mondays are coming soon. Yipee! So definitely keep your eye out for when they start.
‘The Park’ is an indoor urban sanctuary and garden where you can feel you upmost, unapologetically true self and indulge in a beautiful, delicious cuisine that heavily focuses on Australian ingredients.
