The Freedom Hub, situated in Sydney’s Waterloo where design and industry intertwine to create a community dedicated to the nurture and cultivation of creativity and technology, is the perfect location for this socially conscious venue space.
Not only can you grab a coffee at their cute-as-a-button cafe, or host your next event in one of their private function spaces, this unique venue is also a registered charity that ensures survivors of human trafficking live in freedom -hence the name- and provides support to those who need it through their program, The Survivor School. This program aims to prepare survivors for the workforce, providing training and encouragement in order to tackle the next step in the road to recovery.
This space primarily depends on various fundraising and events to help raise money for the cause, along with their completely ethical social enterprise cafe that provides customers with the knowledge that they’re purchasing goods that are not the result of slave labour. This cafe is like no other with the main focus being on the care of where the products have come from, how they’re selected, transported and prepared and how it will benefit others.
One of the main features of this venue is the way they promote their space as being an urban escape, a chance for people to leave the hustle and bustle of Sydney’s city behind (and all the stress that comes with it) to find solace and the opportunity to learn about different cultures while you sip on exotic teas and dine on local, healthy food that will have your body feeling right and your mind working clearer than it has in days. That’s a promise.
Once nice and relaxed, wander through the adjoining retail shop or visit the online store from the comfort of your own bed (don’t judge us just because we’re still in our pj’s and its 3pm in the afternoon) that also features products that are slave-free and take comfort in the fact that you finally have an excuse to online shop at 2am (because we’ve slept the whole day and so now can’t get to sleep). We give you permission (and so does your bank account) to go forth and #purchasewithpurpose.
Some of the goodies you could walk away with, or wait patiently in the mail for, are a wide selection of candles boasting the most amazing scents that include ‘bamboo & white lily’ and ‘champagne & strawberries’. Or if your nose is temperamental and doesn’t like the smell of those, than let it sniff the full-bodied and chocolatey aroma of coffee beans that are also available for purchase. Yum.
If you’re looking for a function venue and also want to give back to the community than look no further than this spectacular warehouse space.
Designed as a blank canvas for an easy and stress-free transformation into exactly the type of space you’ve always dreamed of, The Freedom Hub is the perfect place to let your creativity and inner-party-planner run wild. Splash your personality all over the space with a fully private area (aka THE WHOLE WAREHOUSE) that can hold up to 80 guests for a sit down dinner or 120 people for a cocktail celebration.
Alternatively, the venue can play host to seminars, various conferences and meetings as it can be sectioned off depending on the client’s needs, and is available from anytime during the day from 6:30am onwards.
Here, take all our money. No, go on, take it.
