On the eve of World Cocktail Day bartenders and patrons alike are waiting with baited breath for cocktail-making history.
On May 13th 2021, Monkey Shoulder Whisky is taking over Welcome to Thornbury, one of Melbourne’s iconic drinking holes, and attempting to break the Guinness World Record for most cocktails mixed in one minute.
The current record title sits with Sheldon Wiley, a New Yorker, who served 18 drinks in one minute on live television. To that I say ‘yeah, nah’ , because we can do better than that!
Monkey Shoulder – the whisky made for mixing – is determined to bring that title home and make Melbourne and Australia the cocktail capital of the world.
Bartenders and mixologists have been training hard and practicing their technique in preparation for the big day. And you, fellow cocktail enthusiasts, are invited to witness this legendary battle.
Plus, there will be free cocktails for the first 200 guests, mixed by the almighty ‘Monkey Mixer’ – a cement truck converted into a gigantic cocktail shaker, measuring 12 meters long by 4.2 meters tall. Think of all beveraginos that baby can mix!
Head down to Welcome to Thornbury on May 13th from 5:30pm. The Guinness World Record attempt will begin at 7pm sharp.
If you can’t get down to the event, in honour of World Cocktail Day, Monkey Shoulder will be teaming up with several venues across Melbourne to serve a special cocktail – The Monkey Old Fashioned – which is available for just $15 to enjoy with your mates.
Be there or be shaken.
