It’s that time of year again, and if you’re smart, you’ve probably already planned a lovely date night for you and your partner. If, however, you’re like the majority of us who once again have forgotten (wasn’t it New Years like yesterday!?) or perhaps you’re a tad bored of the usual romantic gestures, we’ve compiled the top 5 things to do with your Valentine this year. You can thank us later.
Shimmerlands
University of Melbourne, Parkville
Nothing sounds more romantic than a movie under the stars and the best food and drinks right at your fingertips. Shimmerlands is a two month long festival held at Melbourne University that features an outdoor cinema, an outdoor music amphitheatre, and a variety of Melbourne’s best food and drink on offer. On Valentine’s Day there will be a special, romantic screening of ‘The Body Guard’ starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, with food and drinks from the likes of St Ali, Belleville and The Real Jerk. Sounds like a win/win/win to me.
Valentine’s Day at Rooftop Cinema
252 Swanston St, CBD
If you’re not big on breaking the bank for Valentine’s Day, why not check out a free screening of ‘2 Days in Paris’ at the world famous Rooftop Cinema? The story follows Marion and Jack (played by Julie Delphy and Adam Goldberg) as they try to fix their relationship. This film is not your usual romantic comedy as a string of bad fortunes and ex-boyfriends follow them all the way to Paris.
If you want to be money savvy this Valentine’s Day, RSVP here to secure your free tickets.
