Firstly, three time ‘Best DJ in the world’ Solomun is headed to Australia. Secondly, his Melbourne show is at an exclusive, secret-as-anything warehouse venue. Thirdly, this has got to be an epic event based on the first and second points alone.
Solomun will be performing an extended set in one of Melbourne’s most secretive event spaces on Saturday the 14th of April. If you haven’t heard of the famed underground performer, here’s all you need to know:
- 2012 is the year Solomun received the title of “DJ of the Year” by Mixmag Magazine;
- In the same year, the musician won “Producer of the Year” by the DJ Awards in Ibiza, followed by “Best International DJ” by the Cool Awards in Brazil;
- In 2013, he kicked off his “Solomun+1” Ibiza residency and became the island’s go-to Sunday night sensation; and
- His second residency, “Solomun+live” commenced in 2015, further marking the artist’s stratospheric rise in popularity.
Luckily for Melbourne, the DJ and producer will be playing in a super-cool undisclosed warehouse location that has been hidden and unused for decades…until now. This once desolate, concrete jungle will be brought to life, with thousands of revellers able to enjoy both the steel interior, as well as an open-air garden courtyard (this will play host to a second stage with the best in local talent).
