Located on Greville St in Prahran sits Tokosan – a contemporary street-style Japanese restaurant, that’ll have you feeling like you’ve been whisked away to the streets of Tokyo.
This Japanese hideout is decked out in only the most traditional Japanese memorabilia, including vibrant colourful umbrellas, neon signs and a cocktail list named entirely after Kill Bill characters.
Tokosan is a place that has managed to truly capture every element of Japanese culture, from a Japan-inspired beer garden to private karaoke rooms, there are endless ways to indulge in an authentic Japanese experience.
This hidden gem features a menu of mouth-watering street style food that is designed to share, in a casual yet stylish setting. We’re talking handmade sushi and temaki rolls, the freshest of sashimi, and meats cooked to perfection on the robota charcoal grill.
Each dish on the menu is as packed full of flavour as the next, and we guarantee there is something on the menu that appeals to every tastebud. Our personal favourites include the TFC (Tokosan Fried Chicken), Sweet Eggplant Miso and the Fish Taco.
Everyday brings a new food or drink special to this already appetizing restaurant. Happy hour runs daily from 5-7PM, where $5 will get you a beer, wine or aperol spritz. On Tuesday’s you can treat yourself to a feast with $29 all you can eat, Wednesday’s brings you $1 dumplings and $5 bubbles and Thursday’s you can knock off with 1/2 price drinks all night.
Sip on cocktails curated from top quality liquor, imported from all corners of the world. These cocktails pay homage to Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill characters and movie quirks. Find yourself struggling to choose between the Pretty Rikki (absolut, soho, lychee juice, lime), Pussy Wagon (havana white rum, Malibu, sake, pineapple, lime) and the Espresso Hanzo (absolut, kahlua, coffee).
Tokosan is the perfect place for a memorable night out, with their karaoke room available for hire any day of the week it makes the perfect destination for a celebration or a night out on the town with some friends. The karaoke room is fit to hold up to 25 of your nearest and dearest, but if you’re looking to hold something that expands beyond your closest circle the Japanese-inspired beer garden can hold up to 75!
