Melbourne’s Most Unusual Martinis

It all began with the espresso martini. That perfect blend of coffee, alcohol and sugar that once took the cocktail world by storm. Thankfully, this decadent creation was only the beginning of the dessert martini (dessertini?) reign. We now have everything from milo to fairy floss martinis, proving alcohol and dessert don’t have to be enjoyed separately. Name a more iconic duo, we’ll wait. Here are 5 places to get your hands on one.

Supersmall Club
147 Commercial Rd, South Yarra

The after school cuppa milo has gone next level. For all of March, Super Small Club in South Yarra is serving up Milo Martinis. They also do a Golden Gaytime if you decide to double-park. Paired with the old school party hits Supersmall plays, nostalgia will be in full force.

Spice Market
Beaney Ln, CBD

Espress yourself at the exotic Spice Market with their twist on the classic cocktail. The ‘Espress-Snow’ is almost too good to be true, with a combination of butter vodka, Tia Maria, Persian fairy floss and house-made passionfruit marshmallow. We wouldn’t expect anything less from the iconic Melbourne venue.

Behold! The holy grail of all dessert martinis. This majestic beverage, called the Espresso Zabaione, contains a mixture of maple syrup, coffee and your choice of vodka, rum or tequila. The magic touch is the cap of saffron cream, frozen on top with liquid nitrogen. Ooh la la…
