Zoo Twilights are back at Melbourne Zoo serving up live music, decadent picnics and wholesome surroundings all in the one place.
From January 24th, spend your summer weekends sprawled on Melbourne Zoo’s lush lawns as they open their gates after hours for their renowned twilight picnics. Boasting headliners like Missy Higgins, The Cat Empire and Meg Mac, this event is a must for the summer social calendar.
This year, all the proceeds from Zoo Twilights will go towards preventing the extinction of the Mountain Pygmy possum through Zoos Victoria’s conservation work. That’s right – just by rocking up to sink a few Proseccos under the stars and bask in the glory of some absolute tunes, you’ll be doing your part to help out the endangered little furry boiz.
And what would a picnic be without a killer feed to demolish? Go as boujee or humble as you please with your choice of spread. For those of you who are keen to treat your beak a little, the hamper packages are a crowd pleaser. Whether it’s a Grazing Hamper (vegan option available), Sweet Treats Hamper or Cheese Hamper, you can rest assured your feast will be the envy of all picnic goers. Oh, AND, all hampers come served in biodegradable packaging paired with fully compostable cutlery, which can all be recycled on site.
If you’re a fiend for a good food truck feed then you’ll be right at home among some of Melbourne’s greatest food trucks and pop up bars. Or, if you’re a sucker for a good home cooked meal, then BYO picnic! Grab a basket and stuff it full of whatever tickles your fancy, just no BYO alcohol. But don’t worry, the bars will be fully stocked and ready to quench your thirst all evening.
A Zoo Twilights ticket gives you full access to the zoo from 5:30, offering you a unique opportunity to get a good squiz at the animals without having to throw an elbow at the masses of schoolkids. For a deeper insight into the lives of the zoo’s inhabitants, drop by one of the ‘Keeper Talks’ that will take place each night from 6pm at the elephants, then giraffes at 6.30pm.
Some shows have already sold out. Ticket prices vary so jump online to check, and grab a ticket to summers’ most wholesome party before they’re all gone!
