If you consider yourself ‘curious and curiouser’ and perhaps even a little bit ‘mad’, begin your journey to The Hatter and the Hare where you’ll be taken on a trip to Alice’s Wonderland.
Located in an unassuming, industrial part of Bayswater, this not-so-hidden gem boasts and indoor hanging garden as well as a huge dining area and an entirely Alice in Wonderland themed menu.
The drinks menu alone is something to get excited about. For the coffee lovers out there, you’ll be delighted to hear they offer all the usual suspects, as well as a bottomless batch brew and even a flight of 3 coffees just in case you can’t make up your mind! And just when you thought you’d heard it all… they’ve created a taste sensation in their Cherry Blossom Latte, which tastes just like a Turkish Delight, and their White Tea & Butterfly Pea Flower Latte, which is just like floral heaven in a cup!
Your imagination will be let loose as you’re presented with very aptly named menu items such as The Duchess’ Feast (BBQ glazed pork ribs), The Recurring Dream (eggs your way on toast) and of course, the Off With Their Heads! (sweet potato and corn fritters).
There are options for everyone: whether you need to satisfy your sweet tooth or would rather dig into a dish of freshly baked gnocchi, the extensive and constantly updated menu has your breakfast and lunch sorted. Vegan and Gluten-free options are also available, and for the little ones, there’s a separate kids menu loaded with mouth-watering goodies.
As well as a deliciously wide ranging menu, you’ll be treated to a selection of stunning, decadent cakes which are genuinely too pretty to pass up. Try their apricot & chocolate ‘Chesire Cat’ flour-less chocolate cake, or their ‘Hare’ which includes orange mousse, crème bruleê, caramel poprocks and chocolate cream tart!
In true Alice style, an alternate dining option you can take is the High Tea. Prepare to feel like royalty as you’re served beautifully presented bites from 2pm-4pm. Bookings are essential, and can be made online via their website.
The Hatter and the Hare is special all year round, however for a handy hint: go around Christmas time and you will be treated to some seriously festive décor. A little birdy told us there’s even a giant Christmas tree inside… and on the Christmas note, get in before the end of December to partake in one of their many festive workshops! Activities include wreath making, gingerbread house making and paint & sip classes! Head to their website to check out the full calendar and book your session.
