Whip out your flares and put on your best platform boots, SuperFly Studios is here and they’re ready to party!
From the same people that brought us Brooklyn Standard and Suzie Wong’s Good Time Bar, comes SuperFly Studios, a retro club ready to transport you into a Boogie-fever dream.
Nestled in the south-end of Fortitude Valley, SuperFly Studios brings everything you could want on a night out. If you’re sick of the same old vodka Red Bull and house music, definitely head down McLachlan Street to SuperFly Studios and I assure you, you won’t be sorry.
Partygoers are made to feel like they are starring in their own musical as they move and groove on a dancefloor embossed with light.
Drink in the Xanadu-esque lounge area, dawned with vinyl couches. Or, head over to the record room with all the classics displayed on the walls, and a drum kit secured to the roof (don’t worry, I don’t think anyone plays that one).
If you’re keen to see a drumkit that’s actually in use, head to the stage where both local-bands and international acts will be tearing it up.
Adam Barton, the venue’s spokesperson, says that’s what this venue’s all about.
“I think I speak for all of us [The Drunken Monkey Group] when I say live music is such a big part of our nights out. Nothing beats a jam-packed dance floor filled with people just singing their lungs out – it just makes your night.” says Barton.
If you’re also looking for any excuse to chuck on a costume, you’re in luck! SuperFly Studios encourages you to dress to impress. So grab that ABBA inspired jumpsuit from the back of your closet and hit the dance floor [insert ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ here].
However, if you’re a bit more low-key when it comes to your clothes, don’t fret, SuperFly Studios doesn’t discriminate by what you wear. Whether you’re in you’re nicest shoes, or an old pair of sneakers, all are welcome to boogie the night away.
Even the bathrooms are in retro attire, so if you’re a sucker for a good photo-op (like I obviously am) be sure to get some sneaky bathroom snaps with you and your mates. They also have been titled the cleanest bathrooms in the Valley, so no need to worry about whether you just stepped in a spilt drink or something else…
But wait, there’s more! The retro aesthetic and groovy dancefloor aren’t all they are known for. SuperFly’s cocktails have also become a crowd favourite. Order a Funky Flex or a Strawberry Kisses, or grab a jug of Power & Passion for the table. Your mates will love you for it!
Okay, so you didn’t hear this from me, but a little birdy said that SuperFly might be adding a Thursday Karaoke night. Yep, you heard me right! You can now live out your Mariah Carey dreams and belt out your favourite songs. Did I mention that you’ll have a live band backing you up! Seriously, every movie I watched as a kid has prepared me for this moment.
Some of you might remember the unforgettable Halloween event that SuperFly held last year. As patrons walked in, they were met by staff in spooky attire. Vintage cars lined the street in front of the venue, creating an immersive retro experience. Sounds super-cool right?
If you’re sitting there thinking, “damn I can’t believe I missed that”, worry-not! Because of the success of the night + public demand, Halloween at SuperFly Studios is here to stay. So, incase it wasn’t already obvious, you know where I’ll be this October. Anyone keen to join me for a boogie?
Rumor has it they also have a range of packages available if you want to hold your next event there. Whether you’re celebrating your 21st, your 30th or having a groovy hens night, SuperFly Studios will have an option for you.
Hours: Friday 7pm – 3am and Saturday 7pm – 3am
Entry is FREE. All you need to do is prepare for a GROOVY night!
