Behind every leading man, or in this case gallery, comes the leading lady, in this case, one of Brisbane’s top fine-dining restaurants. Introducing GOMA.
The Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) houses some of Australia’s most innovative artworks, and has the vision of becoming the leading institution for the contemporary art of Australia, Asia and the Pacific. The gallery is a world class demonstration of contemporary and modern art, with constantly changing exhibitions, and the picturesque setting against the idyllic Brisbane River. QAGOMA proves that Australia is more than capable of having a museum that competes with the top in the world.
GOMA Restaurant’s philosophy is to deliver a dining experience as contemporary and creative as the artwork which surrounds it. Executive chef Josue Lopez has worked at Brisbane’s acclaimed Moda and Two Small Rooms, as well as Michelin Star restaurants overseas like the NOMA in Copenhagen…he must be attracted to all things ending in OMA…
If you’re looking for a fine dining experience in Brisbane than be sure to reserve a table at GOMA. With an austere and ultra modern interior that mirrors that of the gallery, GOMA’s menu has a focus on local and seasonal produce, with the whole dining experience resembling that of going through a gallery; each dish presenting a part of the story, with every element on the plate uniting to create what looked like a piece of art, too beautiful you feel guilty eating it. You can go for the 5-course tasting menu for $110, or really spoil yourself and go all out with 9 for $140. Both have the option for additional wine pairing, and neither will disappoint.
When the wine selection and food is this good, you won’t mind ending up in a food coma at GOMA.
