Punchbowl Canteen – Top Cafes

Punchbowl Canteen, nestled in the Industrial precinct of Port Melbourne, was made with locals in mind; a place that is ‘Somewhere for Everyone’.

The team behind the café wanted to create a space that felt worlds away from the hectic flow of Bay Street. Punchbowl welcomes families, children, corporates and everyone in between, with those who go to school, work and live in the area being their number one priority.

After talking with locals and those who work in the area, they found that there was a gap in the market in terms of a café that offered speciality coffee and food that was both healthy and of quality, and so Punchbowl Canteen was born.

The café is open and light and uses pastels, brass and sunshine to make up the space, with the staff adding to this atmosphere.

Head Chef Liz Milroy has been embedded in the culinary scene of Melbourne and has designed the menu with 3 integral things in mind; Locally sourced, sustainable and traceable produce, food with heart that tastes amazing and has soul, and finally, food that is for everyone.

The dishes are a modern Australian café style with an old school feel. It covers all areas, from comfort food to healthier options, and has a full juice bar, a wood-fire oven and a display cabinet with salads and sandwhiches which changes daily. They are also fully licensed and able to cater to all dietary requirements.

Punchbowl Canteen is the perfect place for a coffee, business catch-up or long lunch with friends, and has made its mark on Port Melbourne.
