The Taphouse (formerly the Palace Hotel), stands today as a testament to Sydney's strong drinking history. The establishment was first licensed in 1878 and is still one of Sydney's best pubs.

Located on the corner of Flinders and South Dowling streets - very close to Sydney CBD, this venue offers its two original levels, plus an open air rooftop bar that was added in 2009.

It became Sydney's first ever craft beer venue in 2008, when it was reimagined into its current form. Housing an impressive 60 taps, it pours hundreds of craft beers each year.

Since then, the venue has gone from strength to strength, winning Best Beer Bar at the 2019 Timeout Bar Awards, and taking the top spot in Beer & Brewer's 2019 Best Beer Venue awards.

The menu features homely, traditional pub food and they offer lots of food specials almost every day of the week, and on Sundays you can feast on their famous Sunday Roast. 

The Taphouse offers three very different experiences across its three levels:

The middle level is where you will find Middle Level Events, the newest space to the Taphouse Family. Odd Culture houses it's own bar with 20 beer taps, an impressive list of wines, and the largest sour beer list in the Southern hemisphere.

Stepping out onto the rooftop is where you will find the Rooftop Garden, the crown jewel of the Taphouse. This level also features its own bar and 20 beer taps. The Rooftop closes at 10pm.
