In Mexico “fonda” translates to a home that has been opened up to the community and serves up delicious food that is made with love. This was the ethos behind creating restaurant Fonda Mexican, according to its founders Tim McDonald and Dave Youl.
All Mexican lovers know and adore Fonda; it’s a great restaurant that’s popped up all over Melbourne and is always serving up insanely delicious Mexican street food goodness.
Their Windsor location on Chapel St has stepped up their game with a stunning rooftop cinema that’s only around until the end of March. Some awesome films are scheduled to play, including all your favourite classics like Back To The Future, The Notebook and Dirty Dancing, as well as some more recent films such as Step Brothers and Crazy Stupid Love.
If you’re a Fonda fan and a movie buff then the rooftop cinema is a must! The ticket options differ and there’s something for everyone.
- You had me at hello – $25 – 1 Windsor Rooftop Cinema ticket
- Go ahead, make my day – $45 – 1 Windsor Rooftop Cinema ticket, 1 burrito or quesadilla and a side of chips
- I’ll have what she’s having – $125 for two people – 2 Windsor Rooftop Cinema tickets, 2 margaritas, 2 corn, 2 tacos, 1 quesadilla to share and 1 dessert to share
You can also order any other food or drinks on the night from their menu and it’ll be delivered direct to your beanbag.
With this all sorted you’ll be able to sit back, relax and have your food served to you in your reclining beanbag under the stars. You can even order your food from your phone so no need to constantly struggle to find that perfect comfy spot on your beanbag. With a burrito in one hand, a margarita in the other and a killer flick on the big screen, what more could you want in life? Or grab some nachos instead of popcorn for a unique cinema snack!
You’ve got to act fast if you want to attend this event. Spaces are super limited with only 18 seats per session BUT Fonda are yet to release the films for the last two weeks of March so keep your eyes peeled!
