Grosvenor Hotel
10 Brighton Rd, St Kilda East
The main attraction at the Grosvenor is their grass-fed Angus Victorian beef, which is aged on site for six weeks to create the #droolworthy flavour. There are five cuts available plus the NY strip loin that is cut to order, so you won’t have to settle for anything but the best.
Check them out on a Thursday for a $20 aged porterhouse and we promise you won’t be disappointed.
Rockpool Bar & Grill
Crown Entertainment Complex, Southbank
Inspired by the great steakhouse of America, Rockpool Bar & Grill has an uncompromising focus on amazing produce – and it shows. The meat is dry-aged on site, guaranteeing that every piece of beef is up to Neil Perry’s impeccable standard.
We recommend ordering a couple of steaks among your table plus some Dutch cream potatoes and some broccolini to get your greens in. Or not – treat yourself.
Meat & Wine Co
Shop 4, Cnr Toorak Rd & Chapel St, South Yarra
Epitomising paddock to plate, Meat & Wine Co offers Monte, a premium line of beef sourced exclusively for them. The real fun here is the sauces, we are partial to the black garlic butter or the red wine jus. Whatever you chose, they’ll definitely have the perfect wine to go with it.
And since you’re already being indulgent, we recommend a liquid dessert as well. Because why the hell not.
Railway Hotel
280 Ferrars St, South Melbourne
A Melbourne institution, the Railway Hotel is known for their exquisite steaks. The pasture fed Cape Grim fed Angus beef straight from the display fridge is our pick. You can even watch them cook it to actual perfection.
They also have an extensive wine-list, with an amazing range of premium reds to pair perfectly with your steak.
Entrecote
131-133 Domain Rd, South Yarra
If the French can use one ingredient perfectly, it’s butter. Entrecote lives up to this stereotype – their butter and herb sauce is actually amazing.
Lash the sauce over your grilled pasture fed Cape Grim 250g Angus Porterhouse and keep the frites coming (Yes, you read right. Unlimited fries).
And at only $44.90 per person, it’s an excellent night out. Merci beaucoup!
The Botanical
169 Domain Rd, South Yarra
The Botanical is a long-time favourite at HSC, so hear us out if you are a bit unsure. Thursday is the day to be there. $25 steak night? Yes please. The steak special offers a sirloin served with a side of crispy fries, a small salad and mustard, plus a pot or glass of wine.
The Flying Duck Hotel
67 Bendigo St, Prahran
Maybe a wild card but The Flying Duck Hotel knows its produce. Hopkins River Beef, Black Angus cattle that are raised amongst the red gums under the picturesque Grampians at Dunkeld in the heart of Western Victoria. The perfect place to raise high quality grass fed beef.
Try with the Chimi Churri for a bit of a kick.
