The Sydney Rides Festival is coming up this October with heaps of things to do, it’s coming to a venue near you!

Promising to be as exciting as the fast-paced action film Tracers starring Taylor Lautner playing an extreme bike courier…

Taylor’s the werewolf one with a slammin’ body.

No, not the vampire, that’s Rpatz.

Whatever.

Whether you accidently put yourself through Lautner’s feeble Twilight follow up or not, the Sydney Rides Festival is sure to be way more entertaining.

More than 20 events over 21 days in October will see activities that accommodate all types, from the lycra-clad peptide-injecting Weekend Warriors to the classic family bike club complete with rainbow tassels. This festival even has events for pedestrians, because let’s face it, every cyclist started with their feet firmly planted on the ground.

We here at Hidden City Secrets have highlighted some of the events that make the ‘must do’ list:

Sydney Rides to Eat (10-31 Oct)

Visit supporting local cafes and restaurants for rider freebies and discounts during the Sydney Rides Festival.

[HCS] says:

Yes, yes and yes. Think about it. Going to a café/restaurant to eat whatever you want knowing you exercised it all off on the way there. Guilt free food? We think so.

Sydney Rides the Park (10 October)

This family-focused launch event takes place in one of Sydney’s most beautiful open spaces, Sydney Park. It kicks off at 7:30am with morning bike-yoga sessions, a bike-powered juice lounge, the Taronga zoo-mobile, plus a BMX arena and cyclo-cross track with breath-taking displays. Try your hand at mountain boarding or rock climbing and enjoy gourmet food.

I know we’ve been to the moon, but you show me someone do yoga on a bike and I’ll be saying ‘Buzz who?’ Also very keen to try the bike-powered juice, as long as it’s not full of bike-powered sweat.

Dirt Film Night (16 October)

Held in an old warehouse on the harbour, Pier 2/3, Dirt will be an eventful night of off-road films, bike games and a pop-up bar.

Anything in a Hidden City Secret like an old warehouse gets our tick of approval. Not to mention the pop-up bar and some great films. If it’s anything like some of the Sydney venues we have on the site, it’s sure to be an absolute winner.

So, for all you two-wheeled aficionados out there looking for something to do this October, grab a bike, grab a mate, and get down to see what’s on in the Sydney Rides Festival. Who knows, you might have a wheely good time (don’t excuse the pun, it’s 100% unashamedly deliberate).
